Neapolitan Porno - https://www.depict.org/2018/neapolitan-porno/?category_request=2018

The short film "Neapolitan Porno" is about a creation of an ice cream where it becomes really over the top to a comedic value as a lot of sauce is put on the ice cream and even sprinkles are on it too. The reason why I like this film is through the cinematography and the sound. The variety of shot types that are used within this short film, specifically the close ups allows the audience to really visualise how delicious the ice cream is. There was also a certain close up of the sauce running down the cone of the ice cream. I like how this was produced to an artistic level with a metaphor being developed as if the sauce was a person dribbling due to how good the ice cream looks. The sound is also very good in this film too with the parallel score featuring throughout the film to connote the positivity to how good the ice cream actually is. This then depicts even more of the beauty of the ice cream they are trying to represent. The dialogue in the form of a voice over was really good too. This is in the only one word that is "bollocks". This produces a very good comedic value to the film with the concept of the toddler unexpectedly saying the word in a voice over, but is obviously not his voice. This is then even more comedic by the fact that the ice cream has been dropped on the floor connoting that the voice over is what the baby must be thinking.

The short film "Scare Crow" is about a photographer who is in a crop field taking photos and comes across a scare crow. She takes photos of it and then she notices it move. The scare crow then runs after her and she is trying to run away, which leads to an unexpected twist at the end. The reason why I like this film is the variety of shot types that I used during the quick paced montage in the running sequence of the film. This quick pace montage allows the audience to realise how quick the running sequence is and connotes panic and tension to the audience. The variety of shot types are very good too. This is with potentially drone tracking shots being used when she runs allowing the audience to try and find the scare crow who has disappeared, but also keep track of the girl's fast paced running. This portrays panic to the audience as they are almost in the shoes of the female character in terms of the fast paced montage depicting how quick she is running in panic.

The short film "Enough" is about a man who protects a person who is being brutally beaten by the man's son. After helping, the beaten up person he becomes sick of what his son is doing to people so he attempts to get a taste of his own medicine. This leads to his gang stabbing him as they don't know that the man is the bully's son. The reason why I like this film is due to the cinematography and editing at the start of the film that connects the man with the bullying scene. This is with continuous back and forth shots of a close up of the man who seems to be annoyed, in which it then keeps cutting to the bullying sequence. This portrays to the audience that the man is really not happy with the bullying in and the audience only assume by the sound bridge of the bullying noises that the man can actually hear the bullying going on in the process. This also produces an enigma code to why the group of boys bullying the boy just run away from the man. But it is then revealed because one of them is the man's son and doesn't want to be scene. This is where I like how they have a specific style to this short film of confusing the audience and then revealing everything at the last minute with the man being stabbed and the boy revealing it was his dad.

The short film "Echo" is about two Scottish girls who discover what seems to be like an abandoned/ruined tunnel. In which they go inside of and one of the girls who is the only one who goes into the tunnel is then caught buy a monster that the hands are only shown on screen. I like this short film due to the restricted narration within its cinematography. This is when the one girl who goes into the tunnel get caught and attacked by the unknown monster. Throughout the attacking scene only the hand of the monster are on screen. This develops an enigma code with the audience to the unknown monster that scares the audience even more by the fact that they don't know what is attacking the girl. The special gore effects emphasise the tension and panic within the audience that is added with the restricted narration. This is due to the fact that her injuries look like its a cut to the neck. This allows the audience to only assume that she is going to die. This rises the tension even more. The dramatic ending style to the film where it is a complete enigma code to whether the girl dies or not leaves the audience in panic and tension as they feel sympathy for the girl who is assumed by the audience, she is dead. This makes the film very tense and exciting to watch.

Cool Unicorn Bruv - https://www.depict.org/2013/cool-unicorn-bruv/?category_request=picks

The short film "Cool Unicorn Bruv" is about this English "chav" who is trying to sell this bike to another "chav". He tells him about how good it is and how nice it is to ride, etc. But then the costumer is then put off the sale when another "chav" comes over with his unicorn pretending it is just like a bike telling them all its features in a comedic value, such as saying it can shoot out a rainbow. The reason why I like this short film is due to the perfect dialogue that is used. The dialogue that is used within all three characters is very traditionally English slang for the lower class society with words, such as the title: "bruv" that was also featured in the dialogue of the film. This allows the audience to instantly identify the region and the country of the location of the film. This is due to the iconography of the English slang in London and in other areas of England too. This suggests that if you just heard the dialogue of the film, the audience would be able to identify the area that the film is based, therefore the dialogue is perfect for the type of short film that created leading me to think this film was successful.
